When I get up in the morning I like to drink a hot cup of coffee. I tried using those cheap coffee makers you buy in the big box stores, but they always stopped working within a few months. I attribute this fact to the place they were made and to me drinking at least a pot or two of coffee everyday. I got tired of having to spend money on products that I knew were destined for the trash. Eventually, I came to the conclusion that buying American was the answer. I know you’ve seen those coffee makers in restaurants, hotels, convenience stores and basically any place that needed a reliable way to make coffee. I knew they were not replacing those coffee makers every few months or even every few years.
I started doing some research and discovered that commercial coffee makers that are Made in America are available for easy purchase by the general public. I have to warn you. These coffee makers are not cheap. They’re really a buy once, cry once type of item, but it also comes down to another old saying. You get what you pay for. The coffee maker you see in the picture is located in my kitchen. It fits under the cabinets and has a lid in the top where you pour the water. I could have gotten one that was plumbed in similar to the ice maker in a freezer, but I wasn’t sure I’d always keep it where it is on my counter.
The coffee maker is made entirely of stainless steel. The only time coffee touches anything plastic is when you pour it from the carafe and that is a very brief period of time. Every part on the machine is easily replaced or repaired by the home user and parts are actually available to order either over the phone or on the Bunn company website. So far, it’s been two years and this coffee maker has flawlessly delivered pot after pot of some of the best coffee I’ve ever had in my life.
The secret to this coffee makers ability to make a great cup of coffee has to do with its ability to get the water to just below the boiling point before it touches the coffee grounds. The typical home coffee maker only gets the water to about 140 degrees for safety purposes. Frankly, that isn’t hot enough to really extract the oils from the ground coffee beans. My Bunn however, is set to 210 degrees. That hotter water temperature is able to extract the essential oils from the coffee beans while simultaneously reducing the level of acidity in the coffee.
In short, I can’t recommend the Bunn Commercial Series Coffee makers enough. If you want a great cup of coffee while supporting an American company, then I strongly suggest you get yourself a Bunn today.
On a side note… The Bunn coffee makers you see in the big box stores are not in the same class as the Bunn Commercial Series I show in the picture.
